How to Prevent Air Conditioning Problems

May 18, 2017

Several customers ask what they can do to help stop cooling equipment repair problems in addition to changing their air filter each month. Gordon's Service Experts is here with a couple options to help your air conditioning system keep up with the high temperatures of summer.

Turn off your air conditioner while mowing.

To help stop lawn clippings from entering your outside air conditioning equipment, turn your thermostat to “off” while you are doing yardwork. You should also keep the outdoor equipment clear from any vegetation or brush so it has optimal room to perform properly.

Keep air supply vents open and free from obstruction.

To make sure you have proper airflow, be sure your return air grills are open and have plenty of open space around them.

Get routine pest control visits.

Bugs can find their way into the electrical components within your outdoor cooling equipment. These bugs could actually cause the equipment to malfunction so spreading an environmentally safe pesticide around the base of your outdoor air conditioner can help avoid insect infestation issues.

Get your seasonal tune-up.

Gordon's Service Experts offers A/C system maintenance plans to provide customers with a proactive approach to taking care of your cooling system. Yearly maintenance is critical not just to keep your air conditioner working properly, but also to keep your warranty valid.
