We are making our way through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Not much is worse than laying down at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Gordon's Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters every 30 days. If you fail to do so, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Gordon's Service Experts a call at 405-432-2197 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
