4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Gordon's Service Experts is here with some indicators to look for when determining whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has routine maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is almost 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade.

Bills

If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to service your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to purchase a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning correctly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns regarding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Gordon's or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the rooms in your home are too warm or too cool and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you might need to look into upgrade choices.
